SKINCARE

This is completely out of my comfort zone but also something I genuinely enjoy learning about. For most of my life, I’ve struggled with my skin and acne and breakouts! It’s not fun. I’ve been off and on different types of medicine, through a round of accutane, and tried so many different regimens to try and keep a clear complexion. I still get breakouts but I’ve learned that having a routine and not going overboard with acne products the second a zit pops up is key! I’m going to share with you a couple of products that have been my saving grace over the years and ones that I’ve been using lately and loving.

To start out with makeup remover, I go back and forth between the Simple Facial Wipes or Micellar Water on a cotton pad. Both get the job done without leaving a greasy residue, but I usually lean towards the makeup wipe because I’m lazy. For extra stubborn waterproof mascara, I will opt for a little coconut oil and a couple Q-Tips.

For face wash, I’ve learned that the simpler the better. I used to go through all sorts of heavy duty scrubs and acids that ultimately just stripped my face of the natural good stuff we all need. A couple of my favorite simple cleansers are the Glossier Milky Jelly Cleanser, CeraVe Hydrating Cleaner, and Lush’s Herbalism. With the first two, if I feel like I need extra exfoliation, I will go in with my Clarisonic to cleanse a little deeper. In the morning, I will use some Witch Hazel on a cotton pad to tone and at night, I’ve recently been using the Glossier Solution which has been a game changer for scars and active breakouts.

In terms of serums and oils and moisturizers and sprays, I definitely don’t use the same thing every morning and night. My favorite serum is the Truth Serum from Ole Henriksen which I heard raves about and I can tell you that the hype is true! I try not to go overboard with oils, but Rosehip Oil is the best holy grail long term acne scar reducer. I also have Tea Tree Oil that I dab onto active blemishes and Frankincense that I have put a couple of drops into my sprays and moisturizers for an extra boujee feeling face. The best night moisturizer is the Neutrogena Hydro Boost Gel Cream which was recommended to me from a dermatologist. I also occasionally use a Burt’s Bees eye cream when I’m not too tired or lazy. For day time, lightweight moisturizers I will use the Aveeno Daily Moisturizer with SPF if I know I will be outside throughout the day or I will use the Clinique Dramatically Different Moisturizer. Lastly, the most fun products are my Mario Badescu facial sprays. I’m addicted to the Rosewater Spray and the Green Tea Spray when I need an extra refresher during the day.

Lastly, for the best self care nights or the extended girly routine nights, I love face masks and other less commonly used products! I love the Mario Badescu Glycolic Foaming Cleanser, the Peter Thomas Roth FirmX Peeling Gel, and the L’oreal Pure Sugar Scrub for once a week deep cleansing. My ultimate favorite face product is the Peter Thomas Roth Pumpkin Enzyme Face Mask! It’s a little pricey but lasts forever and gives incredible results. I also have tried other samples of this brand’s face masks and they are all incredible depending on what you need most for your skin. Lush also has great face masks for natural, less expensive alternatives. My all-time favorite is the Mask of Magnaminty for a deep, clarifying cleanse and the FOMO Jelly Face Mask for a calming, soothing night.

I think that just about does it for my favorite skin products! I absolutely love learning, exploring, and trying out different brands and products. If you have any recommendations let me know or if you try out any of mine, I’d love to hear your thoughts!
